Polka Dot Cookies

Yum, this is a recipe from my younger days.  I am not sure if my Mom got this recipe from my sister-in-law or the other way around.  But either way, these are so good and moist!

I was so anxious to get baking on the cookies, I forgot to take pictures until I had the dough all ready:

½ C margarine
¼ C sugar
½ C brown sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 t. vanilla
2 C flour
1 t. baking powder
¼ t. baking soda
¼ t salt
¼ C milk
1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ C chopped maraschino cherries(about 20)
½ C chopped pecans
Cream margarine and sugars.  Blend in egg and vanilla.  In separate bowl, blend flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.  Add to margarine mixture, alternating with milk, mixing well after each addition.  Stir in chocolate pieces, cherries and nuts.  Place rounded teaspoons of dough on greased baking sheet.  Bake in 375 oven for 9-10 minutes or until slightly brown on edges.  Remove to cooling rack.  Makes 4 doz cookies.

Ready to go in the oven:

And the finished product.  Just like I remember!
