One word: YUM! I hand picked my berries and they are the BEST coming right of the vine.
Here is the recipe:
2 pints strawberries, washed and sliced. Add a teaspoon to tablespoon of sugar, stir and let sit while making the dough.Shortcake: 2 C flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2 T sugar 1/2 C shortening 3/4 C milk Mix dry ingredients and work in shortening with a fork or pasty blender. Add milk quickly. You can roll out the dough and cut with biscuit cutter or you can just dollop the dough on a pan. Either way, make thick enough to split. Bake in 450 oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve with the berries and whipped cream, whether store bought or freshly made. You can also halve the recipe. Enjoy!
